Dave's painting 'Cannot Be Contained' was recently featured on the cover of Portland Magazine. Another piece, 'The Calm,' earned the Richeson Award at Waterworks Art Museum in Miles City, Montana. Mensing is also honored to have a solo-exhibition at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana until November..

David Mensing's work has been exhibited at numerous museums and shows throughout the country, including: The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City; The Holter Museum of Art in Helena, Montana; The Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana; The Missoula Art Museum in Missoula, Montana; The C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana; The Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, The LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University and The Brinton Museum in Big Horn, Wyoming.


David Mensing's work was recently featured on the cover of both Santa Fean Magazine and Portland Magazine. A recent feature article appeared in the February 2014 issue of Southwest Art. Past issues of American Art Collector, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector and Big Sky Journal have also highlighted his work.

In 2014, David won Southwest Art's 'Award of Excellence - Best Landscape' at Western Icons in Missoula. Other national awards include: 'Professional Juror / Best of Show' in Art and Soul 2016, 'Finalist' in Southwest Art's 21 Over 31 Competition, and 'Third Place' in The Mirror Pond National Exhibition. In 2010, he won 'Artist's Choice' at the Western Montana Paintout in Missoula.

Mensing graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and enjoyed a full scholarship to attend Scottsdale Artist's School. He also painted and studied with his good friend, Robert Moore, during a six-year apprenticeship.

David's paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections. The Brinton Museum recently purchased a piece for their permanent collection and Five Valleys Land Trust commissioned a large tryptich for the Front Lobby of their new offices in Missoula, Montana. Other important permanent collections include Protneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, Stoneridge Creek Lodge in Pleasanton, California and Treasure State Bank in Missoula, Montana.


Current prices for small paintings (5x7 to 12x16) range from $300 to $1,000. Medium paintings (16x20 to 24x36) range from $1,400 to $4,000.
Current prices for large paintings (30x40 to 54x72) range from $4,000 to $12,000.

Prices for David Mensing's original paintings have appreciated
over 50% since 2015.


David Mensing considers the title of a painting to be part of the overall composition - the title of each of his paintings has real meaning and real identity.

Dave is powerfully moved by the beauty of creation and believes that we can learn from our experience of it. The character of God - his eternal capability and divine nature - can be clearly seen in that which he has created.
